“And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.” – Luke 9:48
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be great. It depends on what motivates you and how you get there. If your motivation is pride and selfishness you are on the wrong path. Jesus disciples were trying that. They had been discussing behind Jesus back, which of them would be the most important. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child, with their limited understanding of life and their simple acceptance of Him, and raised them as the new standard. If you want to be the greatest, you must serve. If you want to be the least, you are served. This is an eternal principle, so now is the time to practice it. Are you waiting for others to serve you, or are you serving today?
