“A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” – Matthew 12:35,36
What we say today is very important. There is coming a day when we will be responsible for it all! Now is the time to make sure our communications are out of a good heart and are a blessing to those around us. Scriptures tell us to not only watch our speech, but also make sure we are not taking the Lord’s name in vain. Often I hear people saying, “O my God,” or texting “OMG.” If these folks were praying that would be okay, but in the general course of conversation, this is using God’s name in vain or in a trivially way. We don’t like it when people make fun of our names or use them in a demeaning way. So, be careful what you say today, you will be responsible for it tomorrow.
