“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:2
It is hard to be different, even if it is just to express your own individuality. Fitting in has been the name of the game since you were born. Normal has been equated with being the same as others. Teachers, doctors, and parents have all evaluated you through your growing up years by their systems of normalcy. We spend most of our lives conforming to these patterns. Paul challenges us to step into a new freedom, the freedom of being transformed. To be transformed is to be changed from the inside out by the power of God, becoming the new you God intended you to be. This process is only possible as we allow the scriptures to renovate our thinking. When our thinking matches God’s patterns for living, our actions and habits become an example of what is pleasing to Him. Will you let God renovate your thinking and make you into what is pleasing to Him today?
